ECORRECT OUTERWEAR – means living and protecting untouched nature in its purest form.
This is PYUA’s core philosophy. To confront nature respectfully, PYUA is always on the lookout for the most sustainable solutions for their products and ensure that all textiles will be recycled at the end of life.
It is highly important to us to find partner who not only use sustainability as a marketing slogan, but also truly accommodate its values.
A combination if style, function and sustainability are the main focus of the new collection.
PYUA’s sustainable approach is globally unique and has been awarded with the ECO Responsibility Award for the third time by the World’s biggest winter sports fair ISPO.
PYUA takes out Eco Responsibility Award by ispo for the third year
24/01/2012 – Munich. PYUA tripled its success! Munich Fair has today announced the winners of this year’s Eco Responsibility Award by ispo. The prestigious prize was taken out by the German outerwear brand PYUA for the third consecutive year. The brand, established only in 2008, received the award for its unfailing engagement to develop sustainable, ecologically responsible products, which convince the discerning winter sports enthusiasts with their highest standards for technical gear and function. An international jury made up by journalists, retailers, athletes and designers from nine countries viewed 262 applications and selected PYUA as the winner. Mark Held (General Secretary European Outdoor Group) announced: “PYUA received this award in the past two years as well. However, the jury was blown away by their progress and their integral approach on the ecological development. We were also convinced by their use of a fluorocarbon-free, water resistant surface coating.”
Founder of PYUA, Timo Perschke, was thrilled about receiving the award: “It’s a great reward for constantly aiming to find new, innovative solutions for our production of sustainable outerwear and all the processes that are connected to it. To receive the award for a third time in a row clearly shows that we are heading down the right track.”
The winner was the “Backyard 3L Men Jacket”. Depending on outer temperatures, it can either be worn as a light weather protector or if temperatures drop, combined with the insulated jacket “Fluffy”, which is made of extra warm PrimaLoft® Eco material. The premium-quality Sympatex® Performance Membrane makes the “Backyard 3L Men Jacket” highly breathable (35.000g/m2 – 24h), wind- and water resistant (water column 35.000 mm) and climate controlled. PYUA is able to offer outerwear on the highest technical level thanks to its partners PrimaLoft® and Sympatex® and still stay true to its values “made in Europe”, “100% recyclable” and “Ecorrect outerwear”. One of the functional highlights of the “Backyard 3L Men Jacket” is the high collar, which protects the face from the elements. The small vents around the mouth area ensure breathing without difficulties through the jacket. Water resistant zippers and taped seams offer even more protection from the wet. And the jacket doesn’t leave much else to desire: high quality manufacturing with nifty details like the writing “starboard” and “port” on the inside cuffs make this premium ski jacket a true eye candy.
PYUA is particularly concerned about optimising recycling. By being the first sports company worldwide to cooperate with companies who professionally collect used clothes, PYUA reinvented the return process and hence ensures the return of the product into the recycling process. Unlike before, customers can now drop off any used PYUA products in one of the clothes recycling bins, which ties in closely with customer habits and doesn’t rely anymore on the participation of a retailer.
PYUA wins Eco Responsibility Award by ISPO for second time
28/01/2011 – Munich. On Friday, Munich Fair announced the winner of this year’s Eco Responsibility Award by ispo: German brand PYUA.
This is the second time, the brand, which was founded in 2008, wins ispo’s environment award for its unfailing engagement to develop sustainable, ecologically responsible products. The jury, made up from experts from conservation programs, industry, sports and media, were convinced by the coherent overall concept and its consequent development and optimisation of a sustainable value-added process. This time the race was made by “Whizz”, a freeride outfit made of a jacket and pants for men and “Floated” the corresponding freeride outfit for women. Their features: 100% water resistant, 100% breathable and 100% recyclable. All materials used are mainly mono-material, recycled, and Bluesign certified and are therefore produced environmentally friendly. Even the Sympatex membrane is PTFE-free and recyclable. A special mesh lining makes this 3-layer-jacket particularly tough and durable – this also contributes to a conscious dealing with resources. PYUA is particularly concerned about optimising recycling. By being the first sports company worldwide to cooperate with companies who professionally collect used clothes, PYUA reinvented the return process and hence ensures the return of the product into the recycling process. Unlike before, customers can now drop off their used PYUA products in one of the clothes recycling bins, which ties in closely with customer habits and doesn’t rely anymore on the participation of a retailer.
“We are stoked about what we have achieved so far, however, we know that we need to keep working to optimise the production of sustainable products. We are super proud that the jury has acknowledged our efforts again with the Eco Responsibility Award”, says founder Timo Perschke.
PYUA wins Eco Responsibility Award by ISPO
Our slogan “Ecorrect Freeride” once again paid off. By winning the prestigious Eco Responsibility Award by ISPO for our Climate series, PYUA once again proves that it is well worth heading down new paths rather than following the masses. The award is handed out by ISPO (Munich Fair) to companies who stick up exemplary for conservation and sustainability of their products and represent Eco Responsibility “as a role model and leader for the whole industry”. We are truly happy about receiving this award and would like to thank our partners who have helped us becoming a little bit “smarter” and move closer to the idea of “Ecorrect Freeriding”.
A jury, made up of 13 members of science, consulting and media, judged the products based on scientific based ESPA-criteria, which thoroughly examine each product based on its materials, logistic and recycling abilities.
PPYUA received the prize for PYUA Climate 2L Padded Men Jacket and Pants, two highly functional products, which furthermore were honoured for the unique combination of sustainable materials. The Sympatex membrane as well as the outer materials are bluesign® certified. However, in this case sustainability doesn’t start with the product but with the integral part of the whole value chain. The inner materials of the Climate series are sourced from the closed recycle chain known as Eco CircleTM. Eco Circle reduces energy consumption and Carbon emission by a fifth in comparison to manufacturers of Polyester materials made from crude oil. PrimaLoft® is used as the insulation, a polyester material made of 50% recycled and 50% PrimaLoft® virgin fibres, which create a soft, breathable and thermal-efficient insulation layer.
Yet, this is not the end of the sustainability engagement PYUA has on offer: Sustainable company culture as well as the sales concept of its mobile showroom, which saves approximately 30 tons of carbon emission per year, were also highly praised.
Jury verdict: “The young freeride brand PYUA is consequent and determined to implement its sustainability concept. The end consumer receives a modern product with a successful design, which also guarantees highest level of functionality and compatibility thanks to the use of PTFE free Sympatex membranes and the outright ability to recycle.”
